Monster Truck Jam 2023

It’s Monster Jam time!

Adrenaline-fueled, highly customized trucks with oversized tires on steroids, performing tricks that include massive jumps, front and back flips, bouncing on two wheels and much more.

If you’re not in the know, Monster Jam is a touring motorsport event, which operates primarily in the US, with some stops in the Canadian Market. The touring event is run by Feld Entertainment.

This year’s tour begins in Worcester, MA, on Feb 17th and runs through the first week of July in the US, with stops in several Canadian cities in the Spring. There are also some dates in the Netherlands, as well as Germany, both in early summer 2023.

So, what exactly is Monster Jam?
At these motorsport events, Monster Truck drivers compete in the following three categories:

1. Racing
2. Two-wheel skills
3. Freestyle

The Racing portion of the show is quite basic; drivers compete to determine who crosses the finish line first. The winner then goes on to the final race of the evening, which determines the ultimate champion.

The two-wheel skills portion is a relatively new category, first appearing in 2017. It’s where the action gets turbocharged. Essentially, the drivers in their monster trucks bounce on two of their four wheels. Some additional tricks include backflips and donuts. If you’ve never seen this performed, it’s impressive, if not downright remarkable.

Freestyle, as the name suggests, lets drivers choose from a wide array of stunts and tricks. Many drivers have their signature moves and are well-known within the monster truck universe. Some tricks include high-speed maneuvering, driving off large ramps and rolling over other “junked” vehicles. This portion of the show is also interactive, where audience members can vote on their favorite driver based on their performance. Consequently, the winner of the evening is determined by the highest number of audience votes.

Some of the most popular monster trucks include long-time favorites; Grave Digger, Carolina Crusher and the U.S. Air Force-themed Afterburner.
